Oh no, my hairs!

I've needed a haircut for weeks. The last time it was cut was just before our wedding two months ago. It was getting pretty shaggy. Here's what I looked like before:

Looked okay when I did it up nice (like here, when I did it for a friend's reception.)

...didn't look so good at other times. Much too long!

Time for snippy snippy. Bring in the hair stylist, the beautiful Katie Mae, armed with a new set of clippers!

She ruthlessly attacked my hair, mowing down my flowing locks in mere minutes.

Pretty sure I was going to cry. Remember, this is the first time Katie's done this.

Hair was dropping all over the place!

And then our friend Chris showed up, more than ready to lend his expert hand in the proceedings. And that's when my haircut became a group project.

Before too long the clippers stopped buzzing and hair stopped raining down all over me. And the result? FABULOUS.

From the front.

And from the side.

My pile 'o hair on the floor.

We can glue it back on right??! Please? I want it back!

Katie won't stop saying how stinkin' handsome I look now. So... I wasn't before? Just kidding. Thanks for a haircut well done, Katie (and Chris!)

Happy Birthday, Papa!!!

Katie's grandpa came up for an early birthday dinner. We gave him some golf balls because he loves to golf and we all enjoyed watching the experts show us how it was done on the Wii!

Wiiiiiiiii!!!!!

As a wedding/Valentine's present to ourselves, we decided to get a Wii because it's just the best invention EVER! After searching everywhere and not having any luck, it was time to go to eBay. Somehow we ended up getting an incredible deal and we're so happy to have Toaster (that's the name we gave him; anyone who watches Battlestar Galactica will understand) in our home.

Some assembly required

So happy!!!

Welcome home, Toaster!!!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Wii, one of the fun things you get to do is create yourself. You pick out your hair, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. and this becomes your "Mii". Here's how Ryan and I turned out; can you see the resemblance?

The Wii comes with a really fun game called Wii Sports where you can do bowling, tennis, boxing, baseball, and golf.

We love our Wii!!! Everyone should come visit us and join in on the fun!

Legoland!

Last Saturday Katie and I went to Legoland California. Neither of us had been there in several years (which I'm ashamed to admit because I'm such a big Lego nerd.) Two of my awesome Lego friends Gary and Jon are temporarily working at the park for a project and they showed us around the place, including behind-the-scenes visits to the model shops where we saw the progress being made on the huge buildings that are going to be displayed in the upcoming Las Vegas section of Miniland, the small-scale replica portion of the park featuring cities like New York, Washington DC, and New Orleans.

We had a great time seeing the sights and riding some fun rides. Below we've posted a few photos of our day, or you can view the whole gallery by clicking here.

We also visited New York!

We had a great day at the park. Spent time with friends, had some laughs, had some good food (some yummy pizza at Brickolini's and tried some sweet "apple fries,") and despite the sun beating on us all day we barely got burned at all. Oh, and souveniers! We got a new apron for our kitchen with a Lego chef pattern on it, salt and pepper shakers, and a couple of sets to build together. Yay!

When's the next trip??

Honeymoon!!!

We had a wonderful honeymoon driving along the coast. We spent our first night in La Jolla and had a beautiful view of the ocean from our
balcony.

The next night we had our reception, and then left Saturday morning for our trip up the coast. We had a fun drive, even though we did run into some pretty bad traffic at a couple points. It was such a beautiful drive overlooking the ocean!

We're having so much fun!!! Are we there yet??

What a pretty drive

Our first stop on the trip was Monterey and we loved it. Our room had a hot tub and a fireplace, which was nice because it was a little colder there. We enjoyed celebrating New Year's there with our party hats, noise makers, and sparkling cider.

Getting cozy by the fireplace.

We took a beautiful scenic drive. Katie enjoyed it so much she wanted to get out at every turnout to take pictures.

Happy New Year!!!!

We had the best party supplies ever!

We then drove down the coast to Cambria and saw some elephant seals, more ocean, and Hearst Castle before heading for home.

No, those aren't big rocks; they're HUGE elephant seals.

Elephant seals are really cute as babies, but that's about it.

Sunset from our porch.

The ocean was literally across the street from our room, so we took a walk down to the water.

We had such a fun trip and the weather was wonderful. There was one day that we had some light rain, but for the most part it was pure sunshine.
