Happy Thanksgiving!

Today we celebrated Thanksgiving at Katie's parents house with both of them and her grandfather. We got so stuffed it hurt. Good thing we only do this once a year.

Nappy time for me before dinner (see previous blog comment about essays at 1 am...)

Yay food!

Papa's nappy time after dinner.

Katie and I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving, too! Happy Holidays!

Baby Belly 2

We'd planned to do these updates often, but never posted again since the first photos in early August. Thought it was a good time to throw an update up (but really I need a break at 1 am working on an essay.)

We've been diligently taking belly photos every week, so here's a batch of recent pics and a comparison to earlier photos.

Week 6 versus Week 28. Wow!

Empty Shell

Just a few weeks lapsed from the time my parents put their house on the market until it sold and they (and my little brother Garin) moved out. The time went incredibly fast, and I can't even believe yet that they're gone. I was there for a couple hours helping them load up the moving van on Monday, but eventually had to go to work, leaving the job to the army of friends and church members to help them finish the task. We missed out on the last evening together with the family before they left, so Katie and I decided to go a couple nights later to see the empty house. Oh, and not only was it empty, but the power was already turned off. It was a lifeless, empty, sad little house.

Where did everything go?? My childhood bedroom was hollow and seemed very very small. The whole house felt that way, which was strange, because you'd think it would feel bigger without stuff filling it up.

The living room also felt like a shell of its former self.

The House wasn't completely deserted, though. Oh no. A new tenant was making herself right at home.

That right there is the first black widow spider Katie or I have ever seen in person. It freaked us out, and afterwards Katie couldn't wait to leave. Can't blame her, that thing just looks evil (that hourglass is a vivid red!)

The next time we see any of my family here in California again, they'll all be visitors, not residents. That's SO WEIRD.

More Bed Rest

I was on bed rest all last week and was still having contractions whenever I would sit or stand, so Ryan and my mom finally convinced me to call my doctor Friday night. I was told to go to the hospital, so Ryan and I went and hung out at the hospital from about 10:30pm to 2:30am. Once they took me back and hooked me up to the monitors, the contractions pretty much stopped because I was lying down but the lab tests came back showing that I had some type of bacteria and needed an IV with antibiotics.
Today I went in to see my doctor and she did some more tests to check for infection and put me on bed rest for another two weeks. I was bored enough with just one week! Hopefully these contractions stop soon because she said I need to be on bed rest as long as I still have them.
Our little guy is doing fine. We're just hoping he cooperates and stays in there for a while longer!

Baby Update

Well, yesterday was quite an adventure. I had been having contractions off and on over the weekend and was having contractions Monday morning, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to go to the hospital. My blood pressure was really low and I felt like I was going to pass out, so they put me on an IV. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions and my doctor has me on bed rest for a week (she had originally said a few weeks, but I convinced her to let me go to work next week).
So, after being in the hospital for about eight hours, I was finally able to go home. The baby was doing fine the whole time and I'm feeling a lot better. Unfortunately, my doctor won't let me travel so we had to cancel our trip to England next week. We're really sad, but we have to do what's best for our little guy.

More Baby Pictures

The ultrasound technician that did the 20 week ultrasound thought something in the baby's brain was a little larger than normal, so I was sent to a specialist last week to have another ultrasound done. They measured the area and said it was perfectly normal. The doctor said the baby weighs 2 pounds 3 ounces.

He seems to like having his arms up all the time.

Our shy little guy. The doctor tried getting a good picture of the baby's face doing a 3d ultrasound, but he wouldn't move his hand.
